Frequently Asked Questions (Clubs)

General

Can my child attend a taster session of a different activity that’s offered at my club?

That’s so exciting that your child wants to get more active! We give one taster session per child, per activity type, so you are welcome to book a taster for a different activity online.

What’s the youngest age a child can attend?

Our Community Clubs offer preschool classes for those aged 2+ years. Our larger flagship clubs offer preschool classes for those of walking age and above.

Gymnastics and ninja classes are available for 4+ year olds. Dance Mash-Up begins for those aged 5+ years.

Where can I buy Gymfinity Kits leotards, t-shirts, hoodies and other kit?

We encourage all members to wear Gymfinity Kids Uniform. We have an online website where you can purchase everything your child will need for class.

If you attend a flagship club, you can also purchase Gymfinity uniform in reception.

How do I select the right class for my child?

We would always recommend your child to sign up to a class appropriate to their age group, and to select a beginner class if it is their first time. The coach can then assess your child’s skillset and level, and let you know if the class is appropriate for them or if there is a class better suited.

If you’re not sure which activity your child will enjoy the most, you can read the comparison between gymnastics and ninja here.

Please only select classes that are the correct age for your child. If you select a class in an older age group, you risk being turned away and your taster session cancelled, as we need to bear in mind the safety of your child. This could also affect their experience of gymnastics or ninja.

What does a Gymfinity Kids membership include?

As a member of Gymfinity Kids, your membership means your child has a space in our weekly activity classes! Whether it’s gymnastics, ninja or dance, your child will attend their chosen class every week.

As your child has a dedicated class every week, they will grow their skills alongside their classmates and work through the various levels of our award scheme with their coach. The coach will let you know when your child is ready to move to a more advanced class.

As a member, you also get discounted holiday camps and the opportunity to enter your child into competitions and training events designed to develop their skills (competitions and training events will have an entry fee).

How do your monthly memberships work?

During your sign-up for your free Gymfinity Kids taster session, you select the weekly class time and day for your child. Once you have attended the taster, we will reserve this class for 24 hours.

When you become a member, that weekly class will be your child’s weekly class going forwards – each week they will have a space guaranteed in this class at the same time and day each week.

Our memberships are billed on a monthly subscription basis.

Our memberships are billed on a monthly subscription – we do not offer pay-as-you-go or drop ins. Our classes are not open to non-members. If you’re yet to become a Gymfinity member, then sign up for a free taster today!

What is the difference between a club and community club?

We call our larger clubs, ‘flagship’ clubs. These purpose-built venues offer Gymnastics, Ninja, Dance and preschool movement classes (please check timetables for available activities) and contain advanced gymnastics equipment, like sprung flooring, vaults, foam pits and more traditional gymnastics apparatus. They can also cater for birthday parties and holiday camps.

We currently have 11 flagship clubs: Bracknell, Bolton, Cambridge (Beehive Centre), Chatham, Farnborough, Maidstone, Milton Keynes, Reading, Wandsworth, Walton-on-Thames and Widnes.

Our Community Clubs are hosted in community spaces such as community halls, leisure centres and school sports halls. These clubs cater for children aged 2 – 12 years and teaches foundational Gymnastics or Ninja skills. You’ll still find these clubs have lots of equipment, but they just aren’t in purpose-built facilities, so the equipment available might differ from our larger clubs.

We currently have 11 community clubs – you can view them here.

Do you offer SEN-specific sessions?

At Gymfinity, we aim to cater for all children and pride ourselves on being as adaptive as possible during our sessions. However, we do not have specific SEN classes or specifically trained coaches.

Every child is different and requires different needs. We ask you to consider if your child can independently take part in classes with groups of up to 8 children, with potential loud noises and lights.

The best way for our coaches to gauge what is best for your child is to bring them in for a taster session. After this hour session we can recommend the class that we feel would be best suited and you can see how well the club fits the needs of you and your child. Ultimately, all we ask is that your child can safely and independently participate in the sessions, the rest can be left up to us.

Specific SEN sessions are something we are working on for the near future so please let us know what club you are interested in by getting in touch at info@gymfinitykids.com, and we can contact you when we launch these if you decide that our regular sessions aren’t suitable.

What happens if my child misses a class?

We understand that sickness and injury can interrupt your usual routine and schedule, however we are unable to provide a refund or a make-up session if you miss a class.

If your child has unfortunately got an illness or injury and may need to miss a series of classes, but you don’t want to give up your space in class, then you can freeze your membership. Please speak with our team to find out more: info@gymfinitykids.com

How do I become a member & how much is a Gymfinity Kids membership?

All memberships are created online via our timetable.

Filter the timetable according to location, age and activity you’re looking for – click on the class you’re interested in, and you will see the prices for that class. Our memberships are charged monthly, and the price varies by day / activity time.

We also offer FREE tasters which you’ll be able to book via the timetable as well.

Can my child bring a mobile phone to their class?

To ensure the safety and well-being of all children, we do not allow the use of personal mobile phones, smartwatches and/or Fitbits in the gym area. We occasionally use company-owned devices to take photographs or film videos and will always refer to the image-use permissions from your account before doing this.

If content is being collected in club for marketing purposes, we will notify parents before class, and ensure that children who do not have consent are not captured in photographs or video.

If your child does bring a mobile device with them, we ask that it is handed to reception at the start of session. If your child needs to contact you, children can request their device from reception, but it must be handed back to reception after use.

What does my child need to wear?

The correct clothing for training is shorts and t-shirt, leggings and a t-shirt or leotard. Please do not wear anything that is loose fitting. Your child will be participating in bare feet as we do not allow any footwear on the gym floor, however, grippy socks are also allowed.

Please note:

  • Long hair needs to be tied back.
  • No jewelry is permitted – if ears have recently been pierced, they must be covered up with tape or plasters.
  • No food is permitted during our sessions unless for an event or specific training event. In this case, you will be notified that your child will need to bring a snack.
  • Please remember to bring along a drink for your child and label their water bottle with their name.
  • Children are encouraged to visit the bathroom before they start their session.

Can I change my child’s class?

If your chosen weekly class no longer is convenient for you, you can change your class – you can either do this yourself in your online Parent Area or get in touch at info@gymfinitykids.com.

My child has no gymnastics experience, can they become a member?

Of course! All our clubs offer activity classes for beginners and are a fantastic way to introduce your child to the sport. Our coaches are eager to teach children the fundamentals of gymnastics and safely guide them on the apparatus as they develop their skills.

Can my child do more than one class a week?

Yes! You can sign your child up for more than one weekly class. Simply select the classes you wish to add to your membership during the sign-up process.

If you’re already a member, click to login to your member’s area and add a new class.

Please note, there are no discounts on additional classes, but if you want to increase the time in club, you could select a 2-hour class which does give a small discount in comparison to two 1-hour classes.

How will I know when my child is ready to move into the next level of class?

The child will be regularly assessed and monitored by our fully qualified coaches and they will inform you when your child is ready to move up to a more advanced class.

How do I arrange to speak to my child’s coach?

You are welcome to arrange an appointment with the coach or the club manager. The coaches will also be available at the start or end of the class for a quick chat.

What is the joining fee?

The joining fee is the initial set-up fee and is a one-off cost. It can cost up to £20 but fees depend on location. If you sign up more than one child, the joining fee will drop to £5 per additional child.

You will not need to pay for a joining fee when booking a free taster, but if you decide to sign-up for a membership, a joining fee may apply.

Do the children follow an awards scheme?

We have an in-house award scheme developed by leading educational and gymnastics specialists and our very own Beth Tweddle, the award scheme charts the children’s progression, ticking off skills that move them up levels.

Find out all about our Award Scheme and our Award Weeks here!

Alongside the award scheme, children also can achieve stickers and rewards for their development. Find out more about our Values Recognition Scheme here.

My child has a disability, can they join Gymfinity Kids?

We try to offer classes to every child. Please email our Member Service team and inform them of any medical conditions, then we will arrange a time with you to discuss this further with the Club Manager, to see how best we can meet your needs.

What should I expect from each class?

Each lesson is productive, structured and, most of all, FUN for all children, regardless of ability! Each lesson is led by a qualified and trained gymnastics coach, who is fully DBS checked, and First Aid trained.

Children will start with a warmup and stretch. They will then rotate around the various gymnastics and ninja equipment. They rotate around different equipment each week and work towards our award scheme.

In our Dance Mash-Up classes, the children focus on a genre of dance for 6 – 8 weeks, learning choreography and routines which they then perform to parents at the end of the 6 – 8 weeks. We currently do not offer an awards scheme for our dance classes.

My child is an experienced gymnast - can they join?

In our flagship clubs, we have high-level performance coaches and specialised equipment for experienced gymnasts. We offer every child an evaluation where the coaches will assess them and put them into the class that’s right for them.

Flagship

Can I stay and view my child’s class?

Parents who are members of our flagship clubs are welcome to stay and view their child’s class! Many of the clubs have viewing areas – please check the club facilities as clubs vary.

To prevent overcrowding within our facilities, we ask that only one parent per child attends. Viewing is limited and on a first-come basis. We may need to turn parents away if space becomes full.

Parents of preschool children must remain in club during their class.

Access Gates: what are they and what does independent access mean?

If your club has access gates, you will be given a Gymfinity Kids access card to open the gates for when you wish to enter and exit the club.

Access cards work for both the parent and child, so if you don’t give permission for your child to leave the club without you, then please keep hold of their membership card.

As an additional option, you can disable ‘independent access’ in your online account. By doing so you will need to activate their card for use at the gates, by using your parent card. For a step-by-step guide on restricting independent access, click here.

Do classes run through the school holidays?

At our flagship clubs, we continue sessions through school holidays as normal apart from the Christmas Holiday. Over the festive period, we pause regular recreational classes and host a 2-hour end of year celebration for the children to finish the year in style.

We also host fun holiday camps during each school holiday break too.

Community Clubs

Will my Community Club close over the school holidays?

As our Community Clubs are hosted in community spaces, such as schools, some of our community clubs* may need to close during certain school holidays, such as the summer holidays. Our pricing takes this into account.

We will communicate closure dates to you in advance each year. We will also list any upcoming closure dates on each Community Club page – please click on your club’s name below and scroll towards the bottom to view any upcoming closure dates.

How do community club closures affect my membership monthly billing?

Although we may close your club for short periods, this does not affect your monthly billing – you will continue to be billed for your membership every month. But don’t worry! Your monthly payments are calculated to account for when the community club you attend needs to close.

To keep your monthly prices the same, we charge 12 equal payments per year (instead of charging a higher price for 11 months of the year).

If you choose to cancel your subscription during these closure periods, your space in class will be lost and there will be an outstanding balance to settle before rejoining.

Please get in touch at info@gymfinitykids.com if you have any questions at all.

How does the equipment in community clubs differ from the larger flagship activity clubs? Is the equipment in the community clubs the same as the main club?

Our Community Club classes are designed to introduce children to the fundamentals of beginner gymnastics and ninja*.

The equipment used in class may include balance beams, vaults, bars and other apparatus that can assist in delivering a high-quality experience in discovering gymnastics. The equipment varies according to the Community Club location – please refer to your Community Club gallery (this can be found on the club page).

Our larger purpose-built clubs have a range of equipment used to teach beginner, intermediate and advanced gymnastics. This includes spring flooring, advanced bar equipment, and trampolines that can accommodate more advanced skills.

*Ninja is not yet available across all Community Clubs.

Can I move my child to a flagship activity club at any point?

Yes, of course! You are more than welcome to sign up to any of our clubs. Please get in touch with our Member Service team if you wish to change your club location: info@gymfinitykids.com

Can I stay and watch my child in their community club class?

We understand that children may be nervous about starting something new, and you may also be nervous too! We have some top tips on how to introduce your child to a new sport to help ease their way into their new classes – read them here.

We welcome parents to come along to watch their child’s very first class. However, during our weekly Community Club classes, we unfortunately do not have the space for all parents to come into the class space to watch.

Parents can drop off and pick up their children. This does not apply to preschool parents – parents of preschool members must stay on-site throughout the class to help their little ones.

Please note, some of our Community Clubs have a viewing area, so if yours does, you are welcome to stay throughout your child’s class and watch what they get up to! Please refer to your Community Club’s page to find out if it has a viewing area.

If your child is nervous and wishes to have you nearby, please speak with management or the coaches as they may be able to arrange for you to stay for half of the class or until your child is more settled.
