Winter Squad Competition 2023

5 min read

Over the past two weekends, we held the Gymfinity Kids Winter Squad Competition 2023, in Luton. It was an amazing two days that showcased the sheer talent and progress of all our Squad gymnasts! We have gathered a recap of the competition to share with you, so read on to find out more about the event and some of the highlights…

The progression of our Squad Competitions

We had over 200 gymnasts attend the Winter Compeittion from across all nine of the Gymfinity clubs. A record number of participants!

Due to the ever-growing talent in our clubs and consequently, the number of gymnasts in our Squads, we quickly realised earlier this year that we had to find a new venue that was large enough to host our events to ensure it was a brilliant experience for all.

Our Summer Squad competition in July 2023 was the first time we hosted a competition outside of a Gymfinity Kids club. Salto Gymnastics in Luton kindly opened its doors to us and it is a fantastic new location which gives the gymnasts plenty of room to perform whilst giving parents a great spectator experience. A huge thank you to Salto for letting us use their space!

For our Winter 2023 competition, we had all nine clubs come together in Luton. It was the first Squad All-Levels Competition that also included our newest club, Walton-on-Thames, and it was fantastic to have their gymnasts join the competition.

The volume of the Squads was high, and so was the quality of skills! The execution was impressive and we’re so proud of all the consistent hard work all the gymnasts have invested in their passion over the past year. We can see a high amount of progress since last year’s Winter Competition.

From the gymnasts themselves to the Gymfinity coaches, the success of the event is a testament to the huge dedication of everyone. And a big thank you to the parents who supported the competition and all the hours of training that it took to get there!

The Trophy Winners: 2023

In our Winter Competition, not only is the Gymfinity Cup awarded to the club that has the highest execution scores in the competition, but we also give out the prestigious Gymfinity Kids Trophy. This Trophy is the biggest award of the year as we collate the execution scores from across the whole year from all clubs. The trophy gets residency at the club that has consistently attained high execution scores in every competition throughout the year.

Winner of the Gymfinity Cup:

We calculate the cup winner from the top 3 execution scores from the gymnasts on each piece. Execution is how neatly and correctly skills are performed; not necessarily how difficult the skills are. Our scoring method is fair and consistent across all the clubs.

Every competition, we award the Gymfinity Cup, which goes to the club with the highest execution scores of the competition. Our first winners in March 2023 were Cambridge and in July 2023, we saw Chatham take the Cup home.

A massive congratulations to the winner of the Gymfinity Cup at the Winter Squad Competition 2023: CHATHAM.

Winner of the Gymfinity Kids Trophy:

We award the prestigious Gymfinity Kids Trophy to the club that consistently attained high execution scores in every competition over the year. Last year, we saw Maidstone take the Trophy home at the end of the Winter 2022 Competition.

The winner of the Gymfinity Kids Trophy at the Winter Squad Competition 2023: CHATHAM.

A huge congratulations to Chatham! The club has kept their execution scores consistently high throughout 2023 and not only took the Cup home but also the Trophy! What an incredible achievement. They get to take their trophy home and proudly show it off to everyone in Chatham.

Special shout out to Chatham’s academy squad for their contribution to the execution trophies.

Maizie earnt the silver medal on beam. Ellie secured gold on Vault, Bars and Floor. Sara took away gold on Beam, silver on Floor, silver on Bars and Bronze on floor! And Daniella earned gold on Bars, Beam and Vault with a silver on Floor – this means Daniella took the all-around trophy for Level 6.

We can’t wait to see what the new year brings – we are confident that we will continue to be astounded by the willpower and skills of our gymnasts. We are so excited to be part of their journey.

Squad Coaches of the Year:

We would also like to take this opportunity to present the Squad Coaches of the Year across the clubs – thank you so much for all your hard work with the squads over 2023! See which coaches did outstandingly this year with the gymnasts 👇
